When I asked our soon-to-be 6-year-old where he wanted to have his birthday party, he said, “Somewhere cool!” With that little bit of information, I began researching different places within the Mon Valley area that host “cool” birthday parties and that’s when I thought about Roll R Way Skating Rink in Donora, PA. When it came to booking the party at Roll R Way Skating Rink, it was as simple as having a quick phone conversation with the owner (you can also book in person during business hours). We picked the date, selected what type of pizza and drinks we wanted, and that was it.
We discussed the different package options and opted for the Superstar package, which included laser tag during the afternoon public skate. This affordable kids’ party package allowed each child to enjoy:

Our Experience with Our Son’s Roller Skating Birthday Party
 | As soon as we arrived at the roller rink, we were greeted by the owner, Will, and informed which VIP party room we would be using for the day. Shortly after, we met the party coordinator, who confirmed our food and drink order and let us know when everything would be ready for our guests. During the party, our son, his friends, and family were skating around the rink, dancing to the music, and having a blast. One of the best parts of hosting a birthday party during public skate is the built-in entertainment. Roll R Way offers engaging games and activities throughout the skate, including races and limbo - activities the kids absolutely LOVED. This family-friendly skating rink is great for all ages and even offers skate helpers for those who aren’t the most confident skaters (a.k.a. me!). |
While skating, the kids stayed entertained by rotating between roller skating and the arcade area. When it was time, an announcement was made over the loudspeaker for the party to return to the room for pizza and cake.
After pizza and cake, the kids were able to head back out onto the rink for more skating before it was time for laser tag. Honestly, laser tag was the most talked-about part of the entire party among my son and his friends. They laughed the entire time and even a few adults joined in on the fun!
A Stress-Free Birthday Party for Parents
All in all, this was one of the least stressful birthday parties I’ve ever booked or hosted for our kids. Booking a birthday party at Roll R Way in Donora, PA is incredibly easy for parents and incredibly fun for kids.
Aside from bringing the cake, party favors, and balloons, all we had to do was show up and everything else was taken care of for us. If you’re on the fence about booking a party here, let this be your sign to do it. It was 100% worth it to see the smile on our son’s face and to actually enjoy the party without stress.

Good to Know Before You Go
Having a party at Roll R Way is perfect for any age - including adults! I definitely recommend wearing comfortable clothing for skaters that is easy to move around in - don't forget socks! I would also say that it is a good idea to bring quarters for the arcade if that is something your kid(s) would be interested in doing while at the roller rink. If you are hosting a birthday party, you can bring your own cake/cupcakes/cookies, balloons, table covers and little decorations but do not bring anything to hang on the wall or confetti.
Since our son's birthday is in the Winter (Christmas Eve to be exact), having a birthday party in a venue that accommodates large groups, offers food and entertainment is a must for us.
